Royal Sutton Coldfield Great War Project 2013 - 2025

I have been updating my original project from 2013 - 2018. I am adding the many more records now available, plus looking at the effects the war had on families who lost loved ones. I have almost finished this huge task and have employed a web designer to put it all onto a website - which should be going lived by the end of March. Some of the men listed on the memorial have remained a total mystery! I will let you know once the website it lived with the address.

Hi Brumbirder,

We were involved in a project to put forenames to all the men on our church memorial (St Michael's Boldmere). These were incorporated into a folder for the whole of Sutton assembled by a lady called, if I remember correctly, Yvonne. There was a folder for St Michael's at the back of the church and Yvonne's in the library at Sutton.

I am now involved in a project to see if we can find men who lived in the area around Chester Road Station who fought in both WW1 & WW2.

We had a few problems especially with a man who seemed to have used his brother's birth certificate to join up shortly after marrying 'in haste'.

I'm really looking forward to seeing your website - a mammoth task indeed!

I expect you have the information on the UXB in Welwyndale Road but just in case here's the thread on the forum:
