Robinsons of Digby Street

cherie

Brummie babby
Hi

My Great Grandfather Henry A Robinson c1878 of Northfield was living at 5 Digby Street with his wife Nellie, children Nellie, Alfred, Beatrice, Marion, Phylis and Lillian my nan. He used to be a cab driver, my father remembers that he was the last hackney carriage to be running in Birmingham before cars and trams made the horse and carriage obsolete. If anyone has any info on this family or Henry Edmund Jinks that Lillian married would be great as can only find family on the 1911 census only not on any others and living in Hampshire means can't get to records office in Birmingham

Cherie, I think this might be your family in 1881

Henry is age 3, born Selly Oak Worcester his mother Ellen is age 24, Laundress Unmarried, born Harborne Ellen dau.age 11 months, born Selly Oak Worcester, they are living at Lordswood Road, Harborne, lodging in the same house as a family called Hill.

Here they are in 1891

Henry age 13 his mother Ellen age 33, Single, Laundress, at 2 Lodge Terrace, Lodge Road, Harborne Staffs., Henry is shown as being born in Selly Oak, Kings Norton registration district. So You do need to look at Kings Norton for his birth certificate . Also at the house is a Henry Golding age 29, Boarder, Single

No sign yet of Henry in 1901

HI, Im new to this site, but I am searching for Robinsons in Aston area.
They were all Butchers
They were Charles born 1866
William 1869
Thomas 1872
Albert 1874 I realise they have all passed on by now, but do any Robinsons still live in the area. In 1891 they all lived in Garbett St ,I cant find that now ,so I guess its gone.

My Grandmother was a Robinson and came from a large family in the Aston area, but they originated in Arley and then Kings Norton before Aston Vicarage Road.. Not the same branch, but mention it because they were such a close and loving family, who left me with very happy memories.
