Robertson Family

Hello
I am seeking information on George Robertson. His marriage certificate and his childrens birth certificates say he was born in Birmingham, England. His birth year is approximately 1875.

His marriage certificate states his parents were George Robertson and Elizabeth nee Rose.

I have been trying to locate information on George and his parents for along time now and have been unsuccessful. I have found no information on his parents nor whether he has any siblings.

I can find no records in England and the earliest record I found was when George married Helen Dixon in New Zealand in 1901. He spent the remainder of his life as a farmer in New Zealand and died in New Zealand in 1946.

I live in New Zealand and my children are Georges great-great grandchildren and I would be very grateful for any information on George or his parents.

Thanks

Hi Lyn
I have searched on ancestry extensively over the past 10 years and have also looked at find my past - unfortunately I have found nothing.
I have also searched the GRO and Freebdm as well.
Variations of the name Robertson have also been searched and possibilities investigated that have come to nothing so far.
I am uncertain when George emigrated to New Zealand, all I know is it must have been before his marriage in 1901. I have found no records of his emigration to say whether he emigrated with his parents or not. Additionally, I have found no records of his parents in New Zealand so I can only assume he came alone at this point.
His Will only makes mention of his wife and children, no siblings mentioned.
His death certificate does not give his parents first names, it only states their last name which is also interesting given his wife was still alive. As mentioned above only his marriage certificate mentions his parents names.
His death certificate states he came to New Zealand when he was 2, but I can find no evidence of this and I also question its accuracy given I have found no records of his emigration and other details on the death certificate are incorrect.
It is all a bit of a mystery.

the thing is if he did emigrate when he was 2 years old that would it about 1877/8 and most likely with his parents in which case he would not be on the english census records...thave you checked their census records for 1881 onwards ?

i will have another look for here but it does not look very promising at the min
