RIP Ozzy Osbourne

as i was in broad st yesterday i took flowers for ozzy...tied them to the railings as the bench is quite full..i have been told that what is there now will be removed at the end of the month..flowers dried out and and sent to the osbourne family and cards and trinkets all catalogued for the familyozzy 2.jpgthumbnail (45).jpeg
 
I have just watched last night's BBC 1 documentary "Coming Home", which covers Ozzy & Sharon's move from LA back to their home in Buckinghamshire. It is well worth a watch and is available on BBCi Player, in case you missed it.

It showed how much coming back to the UK and doing his final concert at Villa Park meant to him. Ozzy said 5 days after the concert, when back at home with his family “It was very humbling to sit on that chair for nine songs. What a great way to go out that gig was", he added "I haven’t even given it a thought what happens next, but I can retire with a clear conscience.”

Sharon then adds: “The emotion and love for Black Sabbath and Ozzy has been really overwhelming. He had a dream and that dream came true. I think that people relate to that very much. It’s our last chapter. This is it. This is our time. However long it is, it’s our time. My life without him just isn’t my life. It’s not what I’m meant to be. We’re like glue.” So sad that Ozzy only got a few days back home with Sharon.

We watched "No Escape From Now" on Paramount+ yesterday. It covers Ozzy's final years very well, particularly the barriers that he overcame to perform at Perry Barr and Villa Park. As has been said by 1299 regarding his book, somehow it is both terribly sad, as well as so very funny in places. Well worth a watch, if you happen to have access to Paramount+.

pretty sure some of the osbourne family have just been to the bench ahead of tomorrows lord mayors ceremony one of them looked liked sharon..picked a nice quiet time as hardly anyone around

I've been watching bits of "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here" and Ozzy's son Jack comes over as a chip off the old block, as well as a credit to his parents. At one point, he said about doing it “I know my dad would be like, ‘go and f*****g do it! (Not) moping and being sad that I’m not here.’ He’d be like ‘try and have some fun." I bet Ozzy would have been really laughing at some of the things that Jack has been up to in the jungle. ;)

It's great that Ozzy's family is maintaining their contact with the city and that the city continues to honour Ozzy for what he had done to demonstrate his strong link to Brum.

Selfridges have a large mural of the young Black Sabbath inside, near menswear. They also have a very large yellow bull, similar to the one in the Bullring, but not made of bronze. Good to see the band and Birmingham celebrated!
 
i was just having a look at the live cam from black sabbath bridge broad st and saw that workmen were putting up flowers on the railings to read "ozzy forever" no doubt to mark a year since he passed away on weds 22nd

i noticed that ozzys wife sharon paid a private visit to the bench about an hour ago...not many people around but she stayed to chat and have photos taken with passers by but she looked a whole lot better than she did last year...i couldnt get my snap photo working so couldnt get a photo of her...would imagine that as its ozzys anniversary tomorrow around the bench will be quite busy with people taking flowers..lovely to see that the black sabbath bench means a lot to the osbourne family

i agree viv...ozzy and black sabbath played a massive part in the music industry throughout the world and its great to boast that they are a birmingham band..would just like to point out that this was not a publicity stunt...i just happened to be looking on the live cam when ozzys wife sharon turned up on speck..there was no media there and she chose a time when it was very quiet also the flowers saying "ozzy forever" would i imagine like last time have been paid for by the osbourne family as i said earlier it is just nice to know that the family think so much of the sabbath bench
