;);)John Ames married Priscilla M Reynolds in Islington in Sep 1924. Alec Ashley Ames b 1878 married Elizabeth Marsh in Islington Sept 1925 (his 2nd marriage). They had a child Joan E Ames in 1927. I dont know if the last marriage ended in divorce as I cannot see a death for Elizabeth. A child Albert G Ames was born in 1928 to Emma M Reynolds in Wandsworth. Alec Ashley Ames married Emma in 1934 in East Preston.
There are a Reginald c Ames b 1922, Kathleen M Ames b 1924, and Ashley t ames b 1925 all born in Wandsworth. Who were the fathers and mothers of these children. i cannot work it out.:headhit:

No, neither can I. I've found Alec's first marriage, (Ada Louise Warne 1872-1920) and seven children (up to 1910), and what you have described above.
My only suggestion is to get the birth certificates for the three you are concerned with. Not a cheap solution (c£9 each now) but the best I can offer.

sorry can read question due to motion sickness caused by the moving smilies and flags.
This does cause problems for some people
(can't watch any scene in a boat on the tele or the shots where they go round people or use a shaky hand held camera)
I have all flash and java items blocked on my browser

Records are kept in the National Archive (search here)

However, due to the then high cost of divorce, often the couple would part and new partners would live with them, as if married - or they would marry bigamously.
Possibly something had happened to Elizabeth (nee Marsh) by 1934 (remarried herself perhaps?) that Alec and Emma felt safe to marry.
A lot of this sort of family history came under the category of "We don't talk about that" in those days.

I am sorry about that. I had not realised this would cause a problem but I am pleased you have been able to disable the movement.

Thank you. The NA is a useful site but I cannot find a divorce so they may well have found other partners and lived as man and wife.

Hi Judith, I can help you.
Alec Ashley Ames was my great grandfather. He was born in 1878 in Smeeth Kent. He married Ada Louisa Warne 26th March 1899 in Islington London. They had 7 children: Alec Albert 1900 -1981, William Charles Edward 1901 - 1985, Ada Gertrude 1903 - 1983, Ackland Archibald 1905 - 1960, Aubrey Leonard 1907 - 1917, Lionel Claud 1909 - 1990 (my grandfather), Doris Gladys 1910 - still living.
Ada Louisa Ames died in 1920 aged 48
Alec Albert (his son) married Elizabeth Westwood Marsh on 8th Aug 1925 at the church of St Peter in Islington London (I have the marriage certificate)
Joan E Ames b 1927 was Alec Albert and Elizabeth's child
Alec Ashley married Emma Margaret Reynolds (2nd marriage) 15 Sept 1934 in East Preston Sussex
I am unsure about the children to Emma Reynolds as I have also found records for Geoffrey b 1944, Angela b 1947, and another unknown male child. All with mother Reynolds
I am unsure who the parents of the Wandsworth Ames you refer to ? Do yo have birth certificates for any of the other children?

I hope my info clears some of the confusion up

Please let me know about the children to Reynolds
