Renovating Stairs

here are some pictures.
looking good just screw and glue a piece of timber under that cracked tread as i mentioned before iv just noticed its not a crack its a Shake as its going with the natural grain of the timber
i have time tomorrow to send you a end on sketch regarding repair
i PM it Sorry i forgot last time

Thanks for asking. I'm afraid it is going rather slowly. I have stripped off the paint so far. I need to mend the treads properly and fill in any holes, then decisions, decisions, decisions.... I was thinking of keeping the stairs all wood, or paint the risers white and and keep the stairs wood. I have also noticed that there are still markings where a runner once was. So should I get a runner???? or could I tint the stair so it is all one colour.
I think Donbogen, can answer that better than me. If its any consolation, I haven't finished my stairs either, "Life" gets in the way

Looks very very good!
Your color scheme sounds good! We had the same in one house. Make sure on tgg HD e white paint you use a tough semi gloss. The risers have a way to picking up toe marks and a semi or medium gloss will clean up better. In the stain for the tress, give it a little time to neutralize and then find a place to test the color, maybe a red oak would work.
Good luck!

These are the problems I am also having with the stairs, especially the risers.

I've no doubt, if we removed the carpet, our stairs would look just like that. Not with a hip, but just like that. We covered ours because of kids, and now grandbloodykids. Can we ever do what we want?
:)
