I think Donbogen, can answer that better than me. If its any consolation, I haven't finished my stairs either, "Life" gets in the wayThanks for asking. I'm afraid it is going rather slowly. I have stripped off the paint so far. I need to mend the treads properly and fill in any holes, then decisions, decisions, decisions.... I was thinking of keeping the stairs all wood, or paint the risers white and and keep the stairs wood. I have also noticed that there are still markings where a runner once was. So should I get a runner???? or could I tint the stair so it is all one colour.
Looks very very good!here are some pictures.
Have messaged youThese are the problems I am also having with the stairs, especially the risers.
Might also try semi gloss polyurethane, very durable and the water based one are environmentally quite safe. Also come in a variety of colors. In our first house the stairs leading to the attic looked much the same as yours i recall Madam waxing them they looked good with character
I've no doubt, if we removed the carpet, our stairs would look just like that. Not with a hip, but just like that. We covered ours because of kids, and now grandbloodykids. Can we ever do what we want? These are the problems I am also having with the stairs, especially the risers.
