master brummie
I have tried everythin g to find my gt. uncles in WW1 - so Iam wondering if you knowledgable people can help please?

Leonard Bray b 1883 (who I know was in the Boer War age 19/20) but would have only been about 34 in 1914.
John Bray b. 1888 was in the Royal Fiel Artillery.
Harold B. Bray b. 1898 - in 1916 was only 16 years but was in the Royal Army Medical Corps, Worcester Reg. No's 57004 & 50518 (why did he have two numbers) L/102B4 753 -
they wouldn't have sent him to the battlefields at that age would they!!
Than k you,
Sheri

Hi Sheri

Did your Harold Bray B1898 ever live at St Matthews Rd, Smethwick? Enlisted 17.08.1916 .There is a service record for the above on Ancesty.
Father is listed as Arthur Bray.
Cheers

Suzanne

Just noticed that Jayell's entry is more than likely the one you are looking for.

Sheri, was Harold's mother called Selina? These are on the Ancestry WWW1 service records for Harold Bertram Bray, there may be other pages, but I wanted to check I had the right man first.

Hi Suzanne, Jayell, Terry, Thank you so much for your reply's. I took another look at Ancestry and I found 2 of them - Harold (mother Selina) - he lied about his age as he was only 16/17 and Terry he changed from the Medical Corps to the Worcesters in 1917. The other was John Bray and he served right through the war as a Batman/Driver in France - both survived not even wounded. I thi nk I was lucky so much of their records survived.
But still no sign of Leonard.
Thank you so much for your help.
Sheri.
