Hello folks ....I am looking for any information possible on my gt gran who died in 1931 her name is Ellen Ray....who married my gt grandad George william Field who also died in 1931 ....dont know where she was born ....her fathers name is william ray and her mother Caroline Ray.

On the 1901 cencus there is a George Field born 1865 Birmingham and a metal roller with wife Ellen born 1865 Birmingham with children Charles 5 Frederick 6 and Florry 10. Living in Urmond St St George Birmingham. Need to know if this rings any bells, then you can work back. Ann

spot on....charles is my grandad.....definite.....aaahhhh superb.....urmond st......mmmm excellent ...thanks for that..

Looks like this is Ellen Ray on the 1881 cencus. Bk. 44 New hall street. Father William Ray born 1832 Birmingham Filer (SADDLER) with wife Caroline and daughter Ellen. I'll check that spelling of Urmond St. Ann

excellente..what i would really like is to be able to trace her siblings to this day and the siblings of her husbnad (my gt grandad.....) and obvioulsy her record of birth .......this is all new to me so I am probably talking rubbish...

I'll check out the names of their siblings tonight. Then you Could try Midlands Historical Data, you'll need to buy some credits and then you may be able to get them on the electoral rolls up to 1935. You can also put them on Genes reunited and hope that their ancestors contact you. That is what I am hoping for on one branch of my tree. Ann

Have you got births and marriages of your grand parents and have you George Field and Ellen Ray's marriage as this confirms their fathers names?

I should have said hope their descendents contact you! Ellen Ray's siblings are Alred Ray born 1868 Birmingham and Henry Ray born 1870 Birmingham. Ann

This looks likely. Re George Field born 1865. 1881 Cencus Address 10 back 59 Miles Street Deritend Aston. George is an iron worker rolling mill. His parents are Joseph Field born 1841 London Middlesex, and a gun screwer. Mother Sarah born 1843 London Middlesex. Other children ( George's siblings) Alice b 1874 Birmingham, Florence b. 1877 Birmingham Henry b. 1868 Birmingham and Sarah b. 1872 Birmingham. Hope this checks out. Ann

Ormond Street sounds more likely Sylvia. I didn't think Urmond was right, but its spelt like that several times on the cencus.
