Rateable value

Hi, I am hoping someone can help point me in the right direction. We are currently trying to purchase the freehold of our house in Thurloe Crescent Rubery and our solicitor has asked us to try to find the rateable value in 1979 (when the house was built and lease set up) or the oldest valuation available. Severn Trent water was suggested but they no longer retain this information for metered properties and to complicate matters when the house was built it lay within the boundaries of Bromsgrove Council but following boundary changes in 1995 it now resides within Birmingham City Council boundary.
Any help with this will be very gratefully received.
Thanks.
