Harry Ratchford born 1891 abt. Birmingham son of James and Emily Ratchford. Having problem finding birth record for Harry and also 1901 census with Harry on. Have 1911 census and his age shown as 20 (serving 2nd Bn. Worcesters in India). Service papers (Militia) give his age as 17 years 4 months (enlisted August 1907), he was a news agent at this time. 1901 census for his family names both parents plus sisters Emily (5) Catherine (3) and Rosanna (1) and relatives Lily and John Daley (Daley was maiden name of Emily. Any help regards birth and 1901 census would be appreciated. 6 Court 2 House Bagot Street a known address (Militia papers). Parents married 3 July 1893.

hi peter just had a look at that 1901 and emily was 26 which would have made her a young 16 when she had harry so i am wondering if emily had harry before she married james and his birth is registered under another name..ie emilys maiden name of daley

As they didn't marry until 1893, it is possible that Harry was the illegitimate son of Emily.

There is a birth for a Henry Daley reg. 1892 Aston.

yes that what i said mark..reg under daley ...my guess is that is him

I am confused - when I searched for Harry i found a death in 1915 with effects going to Mother Emily but the 1922 eroll appears to list Henry living with James and Emily at 7 Pritchett Street

William (born 1907) and Norah (1909) also baptised at St Chad's
Haven't found a birth reg for William but Norah reg with mmn Daley.
The older children are not with James and Emily in 1911.
