Hi Folks

Rankin sidecars were at 1724 Pershore Road, Kings Norton until they moved in 1959 t Ash Road Saltley, Does anyone have any memories or information about them

One of their sidecars together with a bike, both looking in poor condition, sold for a lot of money at Bonhams in 2010

Bonhams : 1950 Vincent 998cc Black Shadow & Rankin Sidecar Project Frame no. RC8273B Engine no. F10AB/1B/4373

This Black Shadow was purchased by its late owner in August 1968 and attached to the Rankin double adult sidecar soon afterwards. The machine is offered for sale by the late owner's daughter, who has many happy memories of day trips in the 12-or-so months that the Vincent was in use and recalls...

As a matter of interest how many sidecar manufacturers were there in Birmingham? Obviously Watsonian were the most well known.
