Queens Hotel Stephenson Street

Thanks Viv, an awful sadness comes over me when I think what's replaced this building.

I'm looking at buildings of stations etc on the cross-city line from New Street to Sutton and want to make sure I'd got the right pictures. The theme for Birmingham Heritage week this year is Architecture so I'm taking a leaf out of the forum book and doing 'Then & Now' for our local railway friends groups.

Good luck Pen.

When I look at the Exchange, I often wonder if, architecturally, they were on a mission to display to the world how imporatnt this building was but ended up with embellishment overload. The 'tower' looks almost unnecessary, and maybe they should have stopped building just beneath it, leaving a decorated flat tower. Just my opinion !

hi pen for many years i have also felt sadness at the loss of this building and many others and i do try to stop going on about but i cant help it...we can easily see the errors made by the powers that be but sadly they can not and even if they did would never admit it...
