Does anyone know anything about 'the house' in Pype Hayes Park.

thankyou for that. I knew nothing about it at all (I know something of 'houses' in other parks but not that)I think the house in the background is Pype Hayes Hall.
now that rings a bell...jennyann said:I remember the small shop was in part of the Hall and sold Wall's Ice Cream and Vimto.
Story in the Mail..Only taken me 8 1/2 years to spot your post Alf but it brought back some memories for sure. My golfing life started at Pype Hayes, usually straight into the queue on Sunday morning from my Saturday night out - seriously happy days!
The course now boasts a brand spanking new clubhouse would you believe, Birmingham City council having handed over the running to a new operator. You can now book your game online of course - taken all the fun out of it wouldn't you say?!
My Brother in Law was a based at Pype Hayes and lived in one of the two cottages on the Chester road. His team also maintained the hanging baskets and roundabout displays in that area. He later moved to Perth in Scotland where he now owns his own business, nothing to do with his previous job though.Pype Hayes park is just across the road from GKN Hardy Spicer, in the days when we did have an hour for lunch the place for a walk around the superbly maintained flower beds, I think it was the base for a team of parks employees that looked after hanging baskets and the like for the area. We also used the crown bowling green and occasionally had after work cricket games. Does the city still have bonfire night firework displays there?
Visited Pype Hayes park today. First time there since 1961 when I stayed with my aunt and uncle in Warmley.
This side of Brum is not my neck of the woods, hence the time gap.
I remember going there with my aunt, whilst she played tennis, I fished the pond.
I was on a nostalgia trip as my memory is pretty good from all those years ago.
I remember it as a very neat and manicured park, not quite so today, the pond looks rather neglected, but the tennis courts not to bad.
Was there a proper tennis club with changing rooms in those days?
What was Pype Hayes Hall used for at that time, it looks very dilapidated now as shown on todays photo. What's its future. It is grade 2 listed I believe.
