Lynn wasn.t it Dr Target? & the dispensary across the road was Dr Riechenfeld (our Dr) we heard that he had escaped from Austria with his family during the war were he was a specialist! my mom used to pay fourpence a month to cover Dr & dispensary visits. His son became a Dr & moved to Perry Barr opened up his surgery in the next road to where I lived we were his first patients.hi pam. i can remember that ointment well. had a relative who lived next door to dr taggets. you are quite right about the white swan. i have pics of 3 of the four corners of farm st/villa street. there was farm st school (i went there) dr taggets the dispensary and as you rightly said the white swan. here it is with my dad ladders propped up at the window. not a sign of dad mind lol lyn![]()
HI Astoness I used this pub a few times with my step father he always called it the Lights ,it was a well known scrumpy house, it was opposite the park in tower street . Mick Mcgrathhi maurice. just checked the kellys and i cant find a pub called the lights. the only pub listed in hospital st is the vulcan and the only one listed in tower st is the st georges tavern. dad has lived there for nearly 80 years and remembers it as the vulcan so i dont know. lyn ps going by the way the street numbers run it would be right. maybe someone can help.![]()
