Pubs and Inns of Bull Ring and Market areas from 1940s

Thanks Phil. I never knew it at all, in either guise. I will draw a veil over the mental image of you taking out "ladies of the lunch hour". I may need a tablet and a lie down otherwise...

And at no 10 is THE CASTLE AND FALCON (Fancy silk store) and no 12 The infamous ST MARTIN'S HOTEL...

Another great (sale) document giving us so much detail of the Board Vaults and nearby buildings. The sale seems to have been for the whole corner plot including the Vaults and other property reaching from Worcester Street, along #s 27 & 28 Bell Street and #1 Poultry. There was a passage from the Vaults to Poultry, the premises all had to contribute to the upkeep of the passage. Thanks for posting. Viv

The Fortescues were mentioned on this Vaults token sold via the Rare Coins & Tokens website in 2013. P W Hands seems to have taken it over, presumably after the sale in post #62 - so around 1929. Viv.DA941722-63E3-4376-B2EF-B1DC78B50004.jpeg

Sad to read all those details of virtually every item listed within the Woolpack (post #67) for sale. Gives a good indicator of what was needed to run an hotel. Total income from contents sale £2200. Doesn’t sound like much today, but would have been sizeable in 1955.

And a wonderful set of photos of the Hotel too. Viv.
