Help again please.

Trying to find parents and any siblings and 1901 Census.

POW files only show Mr Rea as next of kin and a birth date of 24 June, 1890. The 1939 Census shows year as 1892 which ties in with 1921 Census.
Found marriage details, 1, December, 1917. Wife Nellie and address ties in with his Pension card, date of discharge 13 April, 1921. On the marriage certificate his Father is shown as Thomas a gardener.

Appreciate if someone could trace a record for his birth, Q3, 1892 Birmingham and the 1901 Census record please?
In a newspaper report, Evening Standard, 21 May, 1918 it's reported he is missing and one of his brothers died of wounds.

Thank you.

On 1921 census George (plus wife Nellie and 2chikdren) are living in Bell Barn Road. He says he was born at Catshill.
According to 2 newspaper reports (when he was missing and when declared a POW) he lived in Bell Barn Road.

Found this baptism which makes me think Geoorge is the illegitimate son of Rose (daughter of Thomas and Sarah listed on 1891 census).

Birth is June 24th 1892 which fits the 1939 census. This may mean Father's name on marriage cert was made up to save face - seen this so many times.

Alice also seems to be the daughter of Rosa.
I can find baptisms for all the children on the 1891 census apart from Alfred - all with parents Thomas and Sarah.

So at the moment it looks as if George had a sister Alice.
Her birth is reg with no mmn. I can't find a birth for George at the moment.

Rose marries in 1899 to Herbert Warman and by 1911 census has several more children so George seems to have had a number of half siblings.
Presumably she left George and Alice with her parents when she got married?

I think this may be George's birth reg but it doesn't come up on GRO for some reason
A word of caution - there seems to be another George born in Catshill at about the same time son of George and Hannah so I am not sure.

Astoness and Janice,

Thank you for your wonderful results.

I was equally confused by the Catshill reference on the 1921 Census. I followed the Catshill location back and because Thomas was a "nailer" I rejected this avenue. What I didn't find was the 1911 Census where he is now a "gardener". So now I am willing to accept that he was born in Catshill and not Birmingham. Thomas resided in Bournbrook on 1921 Census which is located in Birmingham which could account for why George says he was born in Birmingham on his 1911 Census.
Being illegitimate ties in with Thomas and Sarah being Grandparents.

Looks like you 2 have nailed this.

Once again the power of the Forum come through.

Thank you both.
