Proposed 5-Tower / public square scheme greenlit - Holliday Street

I haven't noticed this mentioned elsewhere, but plans have apparently been greenlit for a complex of 5 buildings (Hotel + 4) between 10 and 49 storeys ranged around a new public square off Holliday St. described as 'A significant public realm improvement'.

A mix of uses but majoring on student accomm. and family living with one tower being homes for purchase not rent.

The site has already been cleared, with the old "Axis" building demolished. You know you're getting old when the major buildings you remember being put up as "new" start being torn down!

Location on Google maps...

Maybe an improvement for students. not sure about the "public realm". The phrase sounds pompous and meaningless , and , while perhaps it means something to politicians and property developers, , do not think it means anything in real life

Bit of history of the site at the link below (albeit in irksome, super-positive "developer-speak"). The footpath through the middle of the site is meant to provide a pedestrian-friendly route for people walking from New Street station to the ICC.
