Gone but not forgotten R.I.P.
Princess Elizabeth at New St Station 17th July 2010, 1st Steam train in New St in over 40 years. Apparently. Was not there myself but I knew someone who went.

Wonderful we went on one two years ago in Wales it was just brilliant! I would have loved to have been at New Street today!
 
I was reading about this recently, apparently New St is classed as an underground station so had a ban on steam locomotives. I believe the loco was towed by a diesel and placed in the open or roof less section in order to comply wirh the safety regs.
