Well, you don't come to Brum for the latest architecture or to most British cities for that reason, come to that. The goods are probably still cheaper than most of their competitors, so some will be grateful for that, and it will fulfil a need. So long as Primark doesn't try to become a department store - they certainly seem to have had their day!

the internet must have cost a lot of shop workers their jobs personally I only buy art materials and printer inks on line Eric

Birmingham got some publicity today, not only in the Mail but some national papers as well with the opening of Primark.
The B'ham Mail mentioned road works, on the pavement I think, outside the store yesterday' I hope they were finished for today - after all the stores opening date has been known for some while.

It seems very quiet in those pictures compared to about 1.00 today. As i was in Brum , someone I know who worked for them at one time asked me to have a look in. Not sure if it was compulsory if you wanted to eat at the Disney cafe (UGH!) to wear mouse ears ! If you have really bad taste then the ladies amongst you should consider the dress in the window for this summer.

Waiting until its quieter before I pop in. Are they OK with photographers going round taking photos or do the security guards have issues with that?

Only new photo this from the bus on Moor Street Queensway before I got off on Carrs Lane.

Mike,

It would go well with wellington boots and a strawberry blonde wig in the generation we used to know as teenyboppers!

Ell
they were quite happpy yesterday. a lot of people were taking photographs, often right next to staff

What even with big cameras, or just smartphones? Some places I've had issues in the past, such as Resorts World, The Mailbox and Millennium Point (once each). The usual "private property" speech.

Sounds like Primark don't have a website to sell their clothes! What if you didn't want to buy them in store? But online only (not that I want clothes from there).

Rather get stuff from Slaters Menswear or Amazon!

There were small compact cameras, like mine, but not just smartphones. No Primark don't have website. The price some of their things are, if hey had a website the postage /carriage might be almost as much as the cost of the item

Mine's a big bridge camera with a strap round my neck. But also got my smartphone camera!

I got told off for taking this last year at Resorts World!

And that "you are not allowed to take photos on private property".

Although I've not had issues outside of there, just when I went inside last October.

Taken on the way from Birmingham Moor Street Station to Odeon. Not had the time to go in yet.

With the Bullring and Rotunda, heading to the 24 Hour Route ramps to Rotunda Square.

Moor Street Queensway cladding close up from the ramps.

To the left, the section of the Pavilions that they didn't clad!

High Street side as I got closer to the cinema.

I've not really wanted to go in while it's been busy with queues of people for weeks.

Today closed for Easter Sunday.

This view from Park Street.

So much for all the people that say Primark clothes are a load of rubbish, the amount they sold on the first day:grinning::grinning:
