Post Office Wilton Road Erdington

In among some memories of an old Erdington resident, Mr G H Machin b1841, is a recollection of a Post Office "tacked onto the shop of the chief grocer" Was this Shufflebotham's shop at the corner of Wilton Road I wonder (far left of image attached) ? Or a predecessor ? I think Shufflebotham's were at #61-63 High Street Erdington. I think the 'new 1960s' Swan now stands on the site (from memory, I think when the old Swan was replaced it took up/absorbed the site of Shufflebotham's old shop)

An insurance map (?) of the site posted by Oldun on another thread. I don't have a date, but it accompanied a notice of auction of the shop and Swan pub in 1911. Hadn't appreciated that the shop and pub were so closely associated. It would explain how the new (later) Swan could be extended up to the edge of Wilton Road,

Hi Viv,
That's a really good plan. I was reading a poem the other day about the High Street in the 1920's which mentions all the shops and other buildings, some I recognise but many had gone by my time. I'm hoping to get a copy.
