Post Office Vaults pub ( Royal Mail)

Frothblower

Lubrication In Moderation
The old Royal Mail pub, New street / Pinfold street is to reopen as a Real Ale pub renamed as the Post Office Vaults.
I popped my head in today. They have a lot of work to do to open on 15 Dec.
Would be nice if some of you could put a message on their web site Guestbook.

Sounds a good idea to me Frothy but hope they move those step ladders first lol!!!
When did the Royal Mail close? Dad can't recall it at all, but he didn't drink in town much.
Have liked the site on fb
Sue.

Hello Sue. Some Beer pumps would be good also.
If you wasn't looking for it you'd miss it. The address is 84 New street but that is just a door, a bigger entrance is around the corner in Penfold street. The place as been closed for about a year. It as been called the Basement Bash Bar, Isis. I knew it as the Royal Mail over 30 years ago When it was a M&B pub. I remember it as quite a large narrow Bar but really it is quite small, memory plays tricks on you, or maybe I wasn't sober thoughout the 70s:uncomfortableness:

I understand Nigel, of 'The Wellington' fame, and ANOther are opening the venue and there will be 8 real ales plus Real cider and perry plus 50 Belgian bottled beers available. Well that's me sorted for Christmas and New Year!

God knows where they're going to put them all, it's not the biggest bar in the world. Good luck to Nigel and Co. If he runs it as well as the Welly he'll have no problems.

Thanks Frothy, I have been there when it was the basement bash I guess, thought it looked familiar from the pics - would have been there in the early 90s probably around 1992/3.

Spent a very pleasant hour in The Vaults this morning, It is nothing short of a miracle they have performed
in getting it ready in such a short time, I love it.
Some good beers, eight hand pulls, two will be permanent house beers, and the other six will be rotated.
I will certainly be making frequent return visits.
They will be selling beers from the latest brewery to open in Aston, https://www.beergeekbrewery.com/

Just a couple of pictures..

thanks for the pics bri..its certainly more open plan than it used to be..the bar is in the same place though...i really hope they do well as we have had enough pubs going to the wall in recent years...well done to them all..

With the owner that it's got Lyn, I would say it's success is pretty much assured.

Three of the beers on sale today...
