Poolton

Charlie

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
I have had a request from a distant relative in Canada. She's compiling a book and would like ANY information about the following:
Thomas Poolton (sometimes spelled Poulton) born 1795, married to Lucy Robinson and Richard Poolton B1823 married to Ann Sharp.
If there's any other information, however small, please could you pass it on to me?
Many thanks: Charlie

Ann b abt 1821 Birmingham
Richard b abt 1848 Birmingham

Same information with the additions:

Lucy - Servant

Joseph b abt 1852 Birmingham
Thomas b abt 1855 Birmingham

Richard and Ann also appear on the 1871,81 and 91 census. If you do not have this information, I hsall be happy to supply it.

Many thanks Sue. Yes, I would appreciate the other censuses if it's not too much trouble. I'm having terrible probs with my internet access at the moment.
Does it say where Richard was born (1823)?

17 WIlliam Street

Richard b abt 1823 in Birmingham - Iron Plate Worker
Ann
Joseph Iron Plate Worker
Thomas iron Plate Worker

17 William Street

Richard - Iron Plate Worker
Ann

Also on this census is Richard b abt 1870, stated as being the son of Richard and Ann. (He could be a grandson)

Place of birth is Birmingham for everyone on all census.

I am not sure if this is your Richard on the 1891 census. If it is then Ann died between 1881 - 1891 and Richard re-married an Eliza Lanant.

4-95 Bishopgate Street

Richard Poolton b abt 1823 Birmingham Iton Plate Worker

Eliza Poolton b abt 1829 Birmingha

Myra Lanant, step daughter
Clara Lanant step daughter

I cannot find a marriage between Richard and ELiza.

I found a death registration for a Rochard Poolton: Sept qtr. 1894, age 70. The dates fit so it could be your Richard

Lanant should read Jarrett (found a birth reg for Clara Jarrett (1872 B'Ham). Richard -m- Eliza Jarrett Sept Qtr. 1890 Birmingham

Hopefully all this information is relevant to your family history.

That's brilliant. Thank you so much. This family is an 'offshoot' of MY Pooltons. The lady in Canada is descended from these Pooltons but I'm descended from cousins that also lived in Bishopsgate Street - he was also called Richard and ended up married to an Eliza. It makes it very complicated when it's so easy to confuse the two trees.
Jayne in Canada will be delighted with all this info...so, again, thank you Sue on my behalf and hers. The info will be winging it's way to Canada as soon as I can keep my connection going for more that five minutes...grrrr:redface:

I am sure one of the girls I worked with years ago was living with a Barry Pollton, her name was Eve i think they lived in Harborne

Don't think we ever had anyone posh enough to live in Harborne Patty! Still, maybe some of 'em 'ave gorn up in the world.

Richard was my Great Great Grandfather. Jayne and I are related, I am trying to do my family tree but can't go back any futher than Thomas and Lucy any help would be helpful Ray

Thomas Poolton was (we think) the son of Richard Poolton and Sarah Shale - no other details I'm afraid. Siblings of Thomas: John b1800; Charles b1797; Theodosia b1793 and Richard b1799...this Richard is MY Gt Gt Gt Grandfather.
Hello cousin :)
