Pettet - french connection?

Does anyone have any knowledge of where the surname Pettet has come from please. I think it is connected the the expulsion of Hugenouts from France during the anti protestant period and I imagine it has been anglicised since then.

Any suggestions greatfully received.

I knew a Robert Pettet

From either near to College road or Paget Road.
