In his will only 6 children are mentioned, brodie and anne are missing.

Help req'd. Reply from Alberta last year gave me Henry married to Kesia Brookes. But had e-mail from lady in Australia saying Kesia Attwell married him and had children Hannah, Brodie, Ada, Fanny and Mary.
Now the children given to me tied up, also henry's will gives Ada Fanny and Mary.

Now either Kezia was married before or Surname wrong. Seems too much coincidence as dates and children match.

any help too clear this up welcome thanks.

On this page we have Kesia Brookes and Henry Petford
Marriages Sep 1853
Brookes Kezia Dudley 6c221
Petford Henry Dudley 6c221
ROUND Benjamin Dudley 6c221
TAYLOR Hannah Dudley 6c221

and I found Kesia Atwell, but not Henry on this page:
Marriages Jun 1854
ARNOLD Thomas Edward W Bromwich 6b863
Atwell Kesia West Bromwich 6b863
BARTON Catherine W Bromwich 6b863
Doody John West Bromwich 6b863
Hanson William West Bromwich 6b863

You may need to get the certificates for further proof of whom they married. However from the other info' it looks like Albeta may be correct to me.

Thanks for this infor, looks right. Believe lady from Australia following wrong Kesia marriage. As her Kesia is the Attwell link Mine is the Brookes link. Cheers

My Grandfather was Francis Thomas Petford, born in 1917 in the Kings Norton area (I think). He was eventually adopted by the Preece Family in the Alcester / Inkberrow areas. Any info on Francis T Petford greatly received.

Francis T Petford birth registered 3rd quarter 1917, Kings Norton, volume 6d page 118
Mother's maiden name Davies.
I can find no other mention of him in BMD registers, or a Petford/Davies marriage which would fit. I would suggest getting the birth certificate, that should identify the parents and place of birth. (Kings Norton registration district covers a lot of areas - see https://www.ukbmd.org.uk/genuki/reg/districts/kings norton.html)

Thank you Lloyd. Thats brilliant. What a result. I shall request the Birth Certificate as you suggest to see what other information I can gather. So another line of enquiry opens with the Davies family! Cheers for your quick and useful help. All the best.

Hello – I’ve just registered today in the hope of finding information about the Brookes family and the name Kesiah Brookes caught my eye. My husband is descended from Joseph Brookes, a miner, born in Oldbury about 1863-4. On the 1871 census (name Brooks) he has a sister called Kesiah, father John, ironworker, and mother Hannah. Whilst this is obviously not the same kesiah that you speak of, I wondered if there is a family connection? Joseph married Mary Ann Hampton (born in Netherton) in Royston, Barnsley Yorkshire in 1889. Their marriage certificate shows Josephs father as being John Brookes, hammer-smith, and Mary Ann’s father as being Thomas Hampton, a miner. I have found a record of a John Brookes christened 10 Feb 1833 in Rowley but don’t know if it is relevant. Unfortunately it is a common name, and there could be about 5 BMD records which could be Joseph. There seems to have been quite a lot of miners from the Oldbury area who came to work in Barnsley mines. Does anyone know the reason for this?
