It opened in April 1911 but had closed as a cinema theatre by 1915. Three years later, there was a dispute about the licence, granting of which was dependent upon structural alterations. Maybe this was a contributing factor in it never reopening as a cinema theatre after WW1.

The building still stands today, and in its time, it's been a snooker hall and roller skating venue.

Wonder why the member of staff in the B&W photo is holding a teddy bear. Something to do with promoting the childrens matinée sessions perhaps ?
