I am trying to find any info on the Parton Family. The mothers name was Hilda née Jennings born Aston c1910. I don't know her husbands name. The children were Jenifer Parton born 1941 and Christopher Parton born 1943.
I suppose to be certain it would be better to send for one of the childrens birth cert's as i did find a Hilda Maud, 1908,Walsal and a Hilda M, 1910, in Stourbridge. This is the trouble with Brum, it has attracted people in so you just never know , took me ages to suss out that my lot came from Devon AND Scotland and met in the middle, if only they knew what problems they would cause
What a simply fantastic lot you are. This is such a breakthrough for me. I am actually trying to trace the children Jenifer and Christopher. My cousin has asked if I can try and locate them. Stangley her job was at the library on the 6th floor for over 25 years! The Hilda born Aston is correct as she was my Dad's sister. I knew little about her as she died of breast cancer the year I was born 1953. I have lots to go on now thanks to everyone for your help.
Have had a look for marriages, i found one for a Jennifer, 1961 Birmingham, but wasn't convinced and then i found this one with the same unusual spelling --
Jenifer Parton/John T Roberts 3rd qtr 1964 Bridgenorth 9a 285
I knew a Tom Parton who had a radio and television shop in Alum Rock Road opposite the Pelham Arms.
He would have been born around 1910-1920 but I don't know where.
He lived at (79, I think) Imperial Road, Bordesley Green and had a brother but I can't remember his name.
His wife's name was Mabel - they had no children.
Wendy what would we do without our Bren's and many others on the forum?. If a Harold Parton comes into the equasion let us know please as my friend of many years married him. It was a sad ending though with both of them. Have a good day I'm dreading mine. Builders.!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jean.
I now have the marriage cert and they were Alfred Joseph Parton of Prestbury Road Aston a motor mechanic and Hilda Margaret Jennings of Bevington Road a Cafe Waitress. I know they lived in Erdington when they married.
Wendy, great that you have all the questions answered, well done Kaz and Bren.
Just wanted to say that in Witton during the time I lived there one of the greengrocers with a shop on Witton Road, was Mr Bird to me, I know his son was Lenny. Bird isn't a common name and perhaps the son of Hilda and Alfred married into the family.
With Bren's help I have sent for the marriage cert of Christopher Parton and Sylvia Bird. I stipulated I only required the certificate if Christophers Fathers name was Alfred. I had a call today from John Yates our wonderful historian asking me if Alfred had another name. I confirmed he did and so now await the certificate. I have to say the help at Birmingham is excellent. The same as the help here!
