Park or Pagoda on Cheapside?

I came across this on Cheapside and have not been able to find anything on what it is. Sat between Barford Street and Rea Street. Park, Bandstand, Pagoda, memorial?




What ever it is it was gone by 1960, replaced by a filling station - any ideas?

It does look like one but there isn't anything showing up in newspaper searches. If they were playing music they might advertise

In 1958 it is .just garage at the back. I think before that it just was a small pump area in the middle

I found this in the 1940 Kellys Directory. Is it an early filling station?

I wonder if that is the original wall and the base of a plinth- there's a kerb stone next to it
