Can anyone help me with this? Not sure if it was one of Father in Law's Brothers or Uncles. Can you tell me what the initials refer to and the period. If not WW 1 I will move it.

The family lived in Kings Heath near Howard Road.

Re: Paget A - ID Tag

Thanks folk - Shropshire works as Grandpa Pagett or possibly Gt Grandpa, came originally from near Gt Witley I believe.

Looking good.

By the way I found this whilst tidying up a cupboard - not seen it in a long time.

Hello Bernard,

I suspect my antivirus may be obstructing this one. I can't access the attachment.

I would love to take the "Initials"(military ?), on as a challenge !

How sad those forms are, it must have been terrible for his mother when she got them.

(Albert road, the times I went up there, on my way to Wheelers Lane school).

Many thanks to everyone and special thanks to Michael for the photos.

Birmingham Daily Mail - 9 August 1916

"Mr and Mrs Pagett, 50 Albert Road, Kings Heath, have been informed that their son, Pte Arthur Pagett, Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, has been killed in action."

In the Birmingham Daily Post on 5 August 1916 there is a similar snippet of information but it also adds a little extra bit of info regarding his enlistment aged 17 into the dragoon Guards in 1915 but afterwards transferred into KSLI

Regards

Terry

Thanks so much Terry. In all the years I knew Wal (Pagett) he never mentioned Arthur probably down to the difference in ages as Wal would still have been quite young when Arthur was killed. I will add the information to the file I have in case any of the family develop an interest. Thanks to my late wife's cousin Michael Emery (MHEmery) I have managed to add quite a bit already to my knowledge of the family.
