Oxford Road Acocks Green

Most of the houses in the first image are still there. Not quite so many trees these days, but a few have survived. In the older image, the trees were newly planted.

I think I read somewhere that a WW2 bomb dropped in this street, probably the site of #97 (now a bungalow) and behind the photographer of this view.

There is an immediate complication when looking at the history of Oxford Road, and that is that the O.S. maps of the 1880s call it Clifton Road, and that some directories call the houses at the Sherbourne Road end Oxford Road, and the houses at the Warwick Road end Clifton Road. This lasts until...
