Outside escalators in Birmingham

I was in the middle of mentally composing a new message to this forum when I had a slight problem this problem was not really anything to do with the message I was composing, this is my problem how many Escalators were there opposite Greys was there Two? or just On? I can remember that the escalator went down to a pedestrian area and that there was a pub next to the Escalator so was there one ? or two?

There were Four other public escalators in Brum at this time two were very close to the Round House (The Rotunda) the problem with these escalator was that that they were open to the elements and the public, in a modern context in Brum they would have been where the the bull is now, any one disagree? allegedly when it snowed the snow would pile up at the top how true that is I do not know

The other public escalators form will form most of my next message so I will not mention them here, but any one from Brum will know where they are they still exists but were never used so will know the two that I am talking about,

Re: So any road up how many of them where there ?

I can remember the escalator that went down to the subway that lead to the (1960's) Bull Ring, next to the Rotunda.
There was a Nelson House menswear shop in the subway. I can't really remember what happened when it snowed though!

The one opposite Grey's? Can't quite think whereabouts you mean unless it was near the Snow Hill side corner of Grey's and leading down to the lower area in front of the Wes and Gen (where the Gaumont previously was). I know there was some steps there but not sure if there was also an escalator.

Now I am certain that there were two escalators at the Rotunda, and yes the other one relates to the Snow Hill and that the rub am I misremembering that there was an Escalator/Escalators there or have I lost the plot ?

I think there was a pub in that subway bit, the Snow Hill side of Greys - was it called the Brown Derby?
I can't recollect an escalator now but there may have been one.
I have got to the age where the memories get a bit muddled!!
