Old Pubs in Floodgate St

Does anyone have any information on two pubs in Floodgate St,the Old Leather Bottle and the Three Crowns, both of which were demolished around 1910. I think my great, great grandfather John Hanson was the landlord of one of them in 1881.

Frank there is another thread on here called 'Another old pub'. There is a photo of The Old Leather Bottle' on it

Kellys for 1882 (which would apply to 1881 as volume date is publication date and details are likely to be for up to a year earlier) lists John Hanson as being the landlord of the Spring Gardens pub , 14 Floodgate st.
He is listed as the landlord there 1878 -1903. In 1904 the landlord was William Thomas Kirkland and in 1876 it was Mrs Emma Bradley. In earlier years it seems to have sometimes been called "New Spring Gardens". There does not seem to be any other pub landlord with the same name listed in 1876 or 1904 or in the years he was at the pub.
The position of the pub is shown in red on the map below c 1889.

John had the licence transferred to him at the Spring Gardens on Dec.7.1876.
The Birmingham Post lists also a John Hanson leaving the Brown Lion, 28 Horsefair in march 1865. He is also listed there in th 1862 directory.
A John Hanson left the Woodman, Garbett St in march 1873. The directories for
1872-73 list James Hanson. beer retailer at 92 garbett st, so possibly James & John are being used inter changeably.
Two small news items regarding John at the Spring Gardens are below. Knowing what happened in those years, I wonder if the beer in which the women drowned was then served up in the pub
