This is where I start to get really confused ! The Lapworth architects in their landscape review document of Great Barr Hall (Restoration Proposals) included the info below in their statement. Please can anyone unravel and explain simply what relates to Old Hall/Farm - ie the Tudor building in the images above ? Maybe with a map or maps please? Thanks.
Richard Scott (1612-1675) seized the opportunity to acquire the Great Barr Estate
and established Nether-House Farm at some time between 1641 and 1660 (now the
site of Great Barr Hall). The Old Hall, or the High House as it was known, was the
Scott Family’s principal seat.
The Old Hall Farm to the north of Great Barr Park. Nether-house Farm, which later
became the site of Great Barr Hall, was established around 1650 by Richard Scott as
a subsidiary farm to the principal Scott residence. By the time of his death in 1675
he had created a substantial farm house with some 120 acres of worked fields (de
Bois 1985).
This house had ornamental gardens and by the turn of the 17th Century, was graced
with a Dutch style garden. The Scott’s became the most important family in Great
Barr and remained so until the end of the 18th Century
