Neither am I convinced as I haven't found a Stout's Farm.Hi!
When my Uncle purchased the property it consisted of two cottages a tythe barn and land . It was known as Old Barn at the time of purchase. I have a copy of the newspaper article but I'm not convinced about the previous name that is mentioned.
It does Lyn. See my post #29oh sorry viv i thought my later st view on post 21 did show a bit of the cottage behind the barn

thanks jan...shame there are no cottage or farm names...makes it difficult now..just wondering where we can go from hereHave found Wiggins Hill on 1851 census but all the addresses say is "Wiggins Hill" so cannot identify Old Barn
It is Warwickshire, Sutton Coldfield, ALL and 4i (2 houses page 24 then rest start on 28.
It appears on some censuses as one word Wigginshill. Here are the OS images from 1834 and 1862 editions, which describe it as Wigginshall, not a Farm, but a hamlet

Yes 2 workers cottages but I still wonder if 1938 was when they became separate from the farm or if it was earlier. There were two cottages when purchased in 1938 according to post #1 Janice. Two would make sense if they were workers cottages.
So they're earlier Mike. Very little change!
Apologies, the second map is 1834. Here's the 1909 one.Shall edit post. Thanks Mike and Janice.

and this is the 39 for frederick walter terry who sold the cottages to your uncle...he was at bricklyn farm bulls lane which i think is still thereI have wondered whether the two cottages that Frank Armstrong knocked into one were Wiggins Hill Cottages but the entry in the 1939 register suggests not. I think that I will be havng a holiday in the archives next time I'm across in the Uk

So he owned the farm in Bulls Lane.
If you cross Bulls Lane and walk across the fields you come to Wiggins Hill Farm. Wonder if he bought the land and sold off the barn etc?

No Wiggins hill cottages are on the other side of the lane from Wiggins Hill Farm and Old Barn.I have wondered whether the two cottages that Frank Armstrong knocked into one were Wiggins Hill Cottages but the entry in the 1939 register suggests not.
