There was a wonderful quote this week by the recently deceased Field Marshall Sam Manakshaw.
'If a man says he is not frightened of death, he's either a liar or a Gurkha'
And this is how we treat some of the loyalist, bravest soldiers to ever serve in the British army.

And these brave souls have only ever fought to defend the british way of life,
The goverment should be bloody well ashamed.
But how could they?
This lot have no shame in them.

I agree with your sentiments entirely Kandor, the Gurkhas are the bravest of the brave and deserve to be treated on the same basis as other troops. However, as you say this government has no shame on this or any other policy. They can waste our money on scroungers but the deserving are treated with contempt.

hi Kandor IN 1954/55 THE 2ND,10TH GURKAS came to HONG-KONG i believe from MALASIA their bearing and smartness were second to none ,they would give the guards a run for their money for incredible smartness .and precision marching one of my friends was the R.E.M.E. Amour er to the 2nd 10th in MALAYA he was always amazed at their enthusiasm no matter what the task asked of them .regarding their wages and pensions i believe the Nepalese government had something to do with it because the areas where the GURKAS are recruited from is a very poor district i vaguely remember something about it i agree 1000%with what your sentiments but as long as decisions like this are in being made by desk jockeys in WHITEHALL unfair and morally wrong .proper care for our wounded forces ,living conditions for their families im afraid it will carry on cheers

Do you know what annoys me more than anything else, these brave men are still serving in the front line risking thier lives every day doing thier duty along side the multi national task force , knowing full well when thier service is over they will not be treated equally as the regular force. Also they will be back of the queue behind the serving Dutch and Polish soldiers to take up residence here (if at all ) Shame on politicitions shame on Whitehall.

Peter said his dad had the privilage of serving alongside these gallent soldiers. He never spoke in detail of his exploits but always spoke highly of these MEN. Shame on those who make the decisions FOR US. Jean.

Shame on those who make the decisions FOR US. Jean.

They soon forget we make the decisions when it comes to election time.

But are the alternative candidates any better? We can only best-guess and hope they keep their promises, but few do.

They do the same job, therefore they should be entitled to the same pay and conditions where ever they are from.
Well said everyone... :)
