I am trying to trace the location of a confectioners that used to be run
by a relative of mine.

The shop was located somewhere on Ninevah Road, Handsworth.

As usual not much to go on, but any help much appreciated.

You do have to put on some more information as to what you are seeking. A date for a start and, if possible, a suggested name

Hello Mike,

Not sure about the name of the shop but believe owners name would
have been Chapman, would be interested in knowing how long they
had the shop for, circa 1930's is my best guess.

thanks
Neville..

In 1932 no 103 Nineveh Rd was occupied by Richard Joseph, shopkeeper. In 1936-1962 it was Horace Harold Chapman, shopkeeper. In 1963-71 it was Mrs E Chapman, shopkeeper. From 1972 it was part of a fried fish shop under someone else

hello mike...I've seen your posts all over the forum and you seem to be able to put your hands on so many records!!!!...how do you do it????:0214:amazing!!!!...now it's my turn to ask you a question!:)...when my parents came to Birmingham from Poland and got married they live for a short whilein a rented room at 45 NINEVAH ROAD.,..this would have been around 1948-1950...are you able to find put who owned this house at that time? The house is still there as I went to find it a short while ago....did any one else rent at the same time? I know they used to walk to Grove Lane baths for a bath...They thought this was so romantic!

Happy birthday Hannah ! Hope you have a good day.
Don’t know if I can help you much though. The directories for 1949 and 1950 don’t list 45 Nineveh road, which isn’t surprising as the owners of houses renting rooms probably weren’t bothered about being listed.
The 1950 electoral roll lists Susan & Edward J.Adams and Margaret Collins.. in 1945 it was Mary & David J. Ellis. If the owner lived on the premises, then one of these is probably who you are looking for, but I don’t have any other information.
Incidently I found out two years ago that both my grandparents on one side were Polish, but emigrated to and lived in Canada, so I feel a slight association with you, being half of Polish extraction
