They probably donated it to them. it looks a old banger.I am curious why a coach from Tideswell, Derbyshire is being used. Maybe a local company hired it or have only just purchased it.

These are the children of the inner city poor. I doubt if they have been on a trip before or had a camera pointed at them. They might just be bored waiting to get on the coach!wow some of the kids look as if they are sucking a lemon,or chewing a wasp. wonder were there going?
when we went on a trip it was all smiles and cheers.
My immediate thought was how smart they appeared to be. Boys with ties and jackets, girls in pretty dresses, all of them dressed in their Sunday Best. These are the children of the inner city poor. I doubt if they have been on a trip before or had a camera pointed at them. They might just be bored waiting to get on the coach!
thank mikeThe second photo shows Yarnolds (not Yarrolds) at the junction of Lodge Road and Park Road, as can be seen at post 16 at https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/birmingham-1969-73.23229/
It still doesn't explain why a Derbyshire coach company should be picking up children in a Birmingham backstreet.Today’s coach.

Judging from some of the other pictures the destination had sea lion, parrots, flamingoes, paddle boats and a small helter-skelter. Could that be Twycross zoo, (not a place I have ever been)? The trip would have been organised by Birmingham City social workers I expect and they were a mixed bunch from all over the country so might have made use of a personal connection. It wouldn't surprise me if the social workers made a contribution while at the same time letting the FSU clients take 'ownership' of the project. The object of the FSU was to support families to look after themselves not to provide 'charity' or hand-out benefits. It still doesn't explain why a Derbyshire coach company should be picking up children in a Birmingham backstreet.
However, a suggestion might be that a charitable organisation in Derbyshire is taking the children to the famous 'well dressing' events that they have there.
Thank you for that. I think then that the railway viaduct in the distance is immediately to the south of Aston station. The second photo shows Yarnolds (not Yarrolds) at the junction of Lodge Road and Park Road, as can be seen at post 16 at https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/birmingham-1969-73.23229/

Poor but happy. Family life in 1960s Newtown.
thanks mikeSpargone.
Here is the position of Yarnolds (in red), which would make it Hockley yard in the distance

There seems to be a shortage of money but a LOT of love in these pictures.
