What happened to the Villa song that went to the tune of the Yellow Rose of Texas?
It began something like this:
We're gonna to see the Villa
That's who we're gonna see
They're the greatest team in all the land
As anyone can see
You can talk about Matt Busby's boys
And the boys from Higbury
But play up Aston Villa there the only team for me
And when the seasons ended
We won't know what to do
We stroll along to Villa Park
Til we can start anew
We'll talk about a brilliant goal
A dashing Hitchens run
And how he smashed it in the net
To make us number One
Some of the phrases may be out, but then I am a BlueNose.
Beamish, I have to admit I watched them on Sky against Newcastle. I had the sound turned up but could I hear their new anthem? That's right, Villa Park even beats the Emirates when it comes to "The Library" )
Library? Library? Most of 'em couldn't tell one end of a book from another. But surely you heard them chanting in their falsetto way veeeeeeeeela veeeeeeeeela veeeeeeeeeela. I was hoping they would have asked me to write the lyrics for a new song it would be titled. "Girlie Pink and Powder Blue" or "What's It like to Win the Carling Cup" or "There's Only One Team in Aston"..............Sorry gotta go, Bob Dylan's on the phone wants some help with his next song.
OK, that seems to be the Holte End sorted out. Now how about the North Stand, Witton Road and Trinity Road sides. Do they not support Villa also? Perhaps they prefer "Keep Right On To The End Of The Road"
