Is my memory correct?

At the corner of Cherry Street / Temple row was there a Pub

called The Nelson, which was underground?

There was a 'Nelson Bar' which you entered down a flight of steps,
can't remember exactly where it was though.
 
Yes, it's the same place I think, it was later called the Nelson Bar.
It was definitely down steps, quite a small area really if I remember correctly.
 
I can't quite remember that - I don't know why!
What I do remember is that they had a DJ who used to play (Northern) Soul music which I liked. This would have been in the 90's as I went in with someone I worked with then.
