Neal Henry & Elsie Larke

BIZZIELIZZIE

proper brummie kid
Furthering my research on the Neal family, I have a Henry Neal who married Elsie Larke in 1902 at the register office King's Norton, Elsie's father was a hair dresser and lived 71 Leopold Street, Balsall Heath and possibly had a shop or worked from 303 Highgate Road, Sparkbrook. Henry and Elsie had, I believe, at least two sons, James Ernest or Ernest James possibly born 1906 and Henry William Neal born 1912, their address then was 246 Formans Road, they were still living there up to 1935. Henry senior's occupation was a finisher at Optician Works. Any further help or information much appreciated.

Henry Neal & Elsie Larke

Hi John, Hi bren
Thankyou both for your information and help, firstly John I do have the 1901 census details on both families thanks, Elsie was actually recorded as Edise, sorry did not put her fathers name which was James. Bren, I have the birth certificate of Henry 1912 but not the one for Ernest will possibly send for this, I did think that maybe there may have been more children as there is six years between Henry & Ernest but without sending for certificates it is difficult to know if you have the correct family as no mothers maiden names recorded until after 1911, also I would like to find out if Henry and Ernest married but as this would maybe be in the 1930's again it is difficult without trawling through the records thats why I was hoping someone might recognise these names as there does seem to be several Neal families around.
Anyway thankyou both I'II keep searching

Hi BizzieLizzie

I went through the marriages last night, searched up to the end of 1940 and the only likely looking one was --

Ernest J Neal/Ivy P Pannel 2nd qtr 1930 Birmingham S 6d 580

Didn't see anything for Henry that i thought was a possibility, sorry.

Hi Bren,
Thankyou so much for that information, Pannel is a surname that has cropped up before when Marian Lily Neal married Charles Howell in 1913, one was a witness to the wedding and Charles is living with a Pannel family (his brother-in-law) in 1891.
I will send for the certificate and go from there.
Thanks for your time in searching, I really appreciate that.

Hi bren,

Thats brilliant information as I have also found her in the 1930 electoral list living at the same address as I had for Charles Howell when he married Marian Neal,

Thanks again
