One of our truly great regiments, my wife's grandfathers old regiment WW1, they have a really great track record in post war policing operations too. Great to see their own memorial garden.

Great turn out - was there a few weeks back - Wife's Gt, Gt, Gt Grandfather was in for just under 3 years - Invalided out aged 20 with 1 arm late 1812 having lost one at the siege of badajoz under Wellington (He survived Cuidad Rodrigo & Albuera).
Came home to Worcester and worked on the land, lasted until late 1870.

Great photo's as usual,Dave. My regimental battle honours too Brian, most of the regiments fought with great distinction during the Peninsular War but the fortified city's you mention were were extream even fr those days and most needed the "Forlorn Hope" to achieve victory.

Just checking your vintage Paul ! (I don't know why I never asked before).

Were you on Churchill's funeral ?

No Baz, they were all, 1st battalion GG, I knew a couple of them, did you know that they all received the MBE, for it also I remember they moaned like H**L, because it was a full leaded casket, CSM Bill Williams bearers IC, and L/Sgt Dave Sweeny.
paul

If you mean the bearers got the MBE paul then yes, I knew that.
In my opinion, and everyone else that was there, they earned it.

Do you remember when that one bloke slipped ? God what a disaster if he'd actually fallen !!

Our regt provided some of the officers for the Vigil. All of us were lining the route from St Pauls.

That was a LOOOONG day !
