hi folks...with the closure of so many pubs in birmingham:( it got me thinking (i do that sometimes:D) that although we are so lucky to have many pics of the outside of pubs we have very few pics of the inside of them so its my intention when time permits to go into as many as i can armed with me trusty camera and snap away...i shall try to concentrate on pubs that are under threat of closure and those that have not been refurbed too much as originality is always best...you would be surprised how many are still around...if nothing else i hope it will serve as some sort of catalogue of pub history for future generations because at this rate there will nothing left for them......oh and as this is a serious project i shall only be drinking soft drinks:cry:...im away for a few days break tomorrow to recharge the old batteries but on my return i shall make a start...so watch this space...

Great idea Lyn, i recently heard that the Union by our Old End has been sold, i understand that there is to be change of usage,so perhaps that could be a early pub for you to photo.
As i reported previously the Sportsman in Garrison Lane is also soon to close so thats another one for you.
Coincidentally both pubs i understand have been purchased by members of one of the minority ethnic groups hence the change of usage in both pubs.
Max

Ps You and Steve have a great time.

Purely in the interests of recording history eh ?

Tis a good idea - just make sure you do stick to the soft drinks .

Have a good break with Steve.

Hi Lyn,
Could you try and snap the Brookhill in Alum Rock, please? I remember there was a large public bar on the front, an outdoor and a G.O. on - I think - the left and the "best side"/lounge at the back. Mind you, I haven't been in there in 40 years...
Stan
PS I could kill for a brown & mild or even a pint of mixed but I'm off out now for some (more) Spanish lager. Better 'n nuthin'

no problems stan...if its still there and they will let me in i will certainly get you some pics...:D

lyn

After Living in Tenerife for 8 years El Stano and i Never got used to Spanish Lager ( but suffered it LOL ) You would be hard pushed now to find a pub in Brum that even Knows what a brown and mild is let alone serve one, i am lucky my local does but only by request !! Max

Lyn. What a great idea for a pub crawl. But do you really think I am going to believe that you are doing it for the sake of history. OF COURSE I DO. Hope you and Steve had a good break, and you go ahead and get as many pictures as you can girl. There will be many members here, just like me, that will be waiting patiently. Enjoy the experience.

of course its for the sake of history bazz...lol...had a brill break thanks but while there i came down with a mother of all mothers of a heavy cold...today is the best ive felt for over a week so it looks like i will now be making a start next week...and now i am behind schedule i may have to visit 2 pubs at a time...ha ha..

Sorry for late reply Stan my local , which will be closing anytime soon as its been sold to become an Islamic girls school, is the Sportsman on Garrison Lane. Max

I read in the Mail today that M & B are to sell around 300 of its "wet pubs" to concentrate on food pubs. So you may only be in the nick of time Lyn.

lyn

If you go by bus Lynn you get the 14 or 14a from Dale end , where the 33 used to stop, and the bus takes you vertually to the door of The Brookhill Tavern. Max
