Museum of the Jewellery Quarter

my first job after leaving school was working in vyse st..right opposite smith and peppers museum in fact you can see my old office window in vivs pic 1 but of course back in the 70s it was still a working manufacturers..so at long last today i went on one of their guided tours..it was like stepping back in time..i could have stayed all day :D tour guide was very good and very helpful so if you have not been i can recommend it..it deserves all the support it can get..its a right little gem

I’m glad you enjoyed it Lyn. It’s on the top of my list of places to go. I love the Coffin Works in Fleet Street. That’s another little gem!
 
Here are a few photos I took at the museum today. The cut-out coin is the attempt of the volunteer who was showing us round to do the test that apprentices had to do, to cut out the head without cutting into it with a very fine hacksaw. i agree lynn the coffin works is great...i have been twice...once before restoration and again after..well worth a visit..
