Moseley Joseph b c1838

Mr Zippy

master brummie
Hi,

I am looking for 1871 census record for Joseph Moseley married to Sarah, possibly employed as hook rim and clasp maker, aged about 34.

Thanks.

Re: Joseph Moseley b c1838

There is a James Moseley(aged 35), though you have probably found them , transcribed in ancestry as Moody, married to Sarah aged 32,and beerhouse keeper at the Forge Tavern, 49 Adam St. He has daughter Mary Ann (8) and son James (De Jeunt?, this after James, looks like it is different surname) aged 2., father in law John Martin (61) and mother in law Mary Martin and Son (presumably of john martin, aged 41 and again with de Jeunt)
Ancestry ref Warcks. Aston, duddeston, dist 21 p.39

Re: Joseph Moseley b c1838

Hi both,

Joseph was born in Aston in about 1938. in 1881 he lived at 119 Gerrard Street, Aston. I tried this forum as I also failed to find him in 1871 census records. moseley is sometimes misspelled Mousely, mosly, mosely, and there are a fair few Moseleys in Birmingham at that time.

Re: Joseph Moseley b c1838

Don't know if it helps any other than place him at the same address as 1881 but 1876 Kellys has a listing for Joseph Moseley at 119 Gerrard Street.

Sarah Moseley, Wife aged 36 born 1835 Warwickshire
Alice M Moseley, Daughter aged 1 born 1870 Warwickshire

Re: Joseph Moseley b c1838

Yes, Ladylinda the similarities are too strong to be mere coincidence. The ages are about right. So, I think we have it! Cheers.
