monkspath hill farm solihull

Yes, delighted and more Astoness. Perhaps we can get historical maps added to the website.
I am so touched at the kindness of everyone who has contributed, so well done all BHF contributors.

Hi

Remarkable work. The OS reference sp147757 shows
the Farm at the top of the slip road of the M42/A34
junction. There appears to be a wooded area on the
Google earth. There appears to be markings on the
ground of lots of lines. Perhaps this is a project for
Time Team.

Yes, I think the creator of the site did a great job. I think the site will be modified to include a book review. Ideally, maps should be added for a better understanding.
The tv programme "The Farm" is very relevant to 1911 Monkspath, though there is 30 years difference in time.

Light Hall Solihull
I am trying to identify the place referred to in this letter sent to my grandmother from her grandmother in 1949. In the letter it states that she had an Aunt who lived on the Main Road (assuming Stratford Road) who she used to visit until "Uncle died" then she goes on to say her Aunt left and "went into Lighthall Lane"
I can't find any ref to Lighthall Lane????? Any ideas?

There is a Lighthall School in the area so maybe the Lane disappeared whn they developed the area? Search of old maps required methinks.

Thanks Mike. I know the area reasonably well and had not heard of it.

LIGHTHALL LANE????
Driving me mad!!!! I know the area well. I know all about the Burman family etc and Lighthall Farm & school. My Gt Gt Grandmother must have been referring to a 'local or slang' name?????? I reckon it is a Lane lost from time past?

Hello Bernie,

Do you have any photo's of the BSA factory at Shirley? I am very interested in the history of sporting rifle production during the period 1954 until 1964. Any information or contacts would be greatly appreciated.
I have seen several photo's of the factory inside and out when it became Lucus Electrics, but sadly I can't get hold of any ex-employees who worked at the BSA factory at Shirley.

Regards Blackjack AKA Mike
