Hi
My paternal grandfather was born at 3, Bracebridge Street, Aston in 1889 but I know very little about him other than what I have found in Census and BMD pages.
Unfortunately there was no one of his generation who collected Family History information and all I am left with are vague recollections of second cousins and family stories. I would particularly like to find background information of him and confirm/deny family stories.
Morris Edward William Miller may have played football for Aston Villa - not in First Team records - or maybe A team FROM Aston.
Also he was a waterpolo player and there was a plaque with his name on in a local swimming pool - don't know which one.
Or was he ???
Thanks
Raymond

Miller info for Raymondo

Yo Raymondo & welcome :)
Morris Edward william Miller born 1889 Aston (B,ham Reg Office)
reference 6d page 323, getting the Certificate will give Moms name,

The 1891 census gives her as Lucy Miller,,, but never take 1st names
(or ages, of Our lovely Ladies as facts ) mmmh!

1891 census gives Morris Andrew Miller age 24 a Plumber born Rugby,
wife Lucy Miller age 22 born Ireland/(looks like-bad print)
Son Morris Edward w age 1,, at 2 back of 189 Heanage Street which is Aston proxy Nechells area.

There is a Morris A Miller marriage Aston 6d page 356 Dec 1888 but
not linking in with a bride yet,, more to search on this one,,

There is a Lucy Miller on 1901 census a Widow age 32 as "sister-in-law
with an Ainge family, RG13/2829 Folio 83 pg 35. at 50 Browning Street.
No sign of Morris Ed Wm , plenty to search on these yet.

Just a quick trawl around for you M8,, once the background gets
sorted then going up past the 1901 will be more factual Ok,
Best regards John Y

Hi John
Many thanks for that information but the marriage in Aston is definitely a non-starter for my grandfather - he married in 1915 to Kathleen Southam in Cairo, Egypt!
Thanks for looking - the mother Lucy definitely looks good as it may link up with a Lucy Bailey, a name floated in a family story but as yet unlinked to any father/mother/husband/children. There has not been any mention of Ireland in the family - until now...
Yet again many thanks for the work you have done and if you find anything else I would be grateful; I will continue my searches and add anything I find to the thread. Plumbing seems interesting as Morris Edward William became a Petroleum Engineer which is associated in my mind with pipework of some sort! M E W was also rumoured to be a very good swimmer so I guess that introduces the water element.
Strange what linkages you can make with a little imagination.
Regards
Raymond

Hi Everyone
Many many thanks for the information you are supplying. As I am so new to this Family History hobby and my information is so scant this is all very helpful as are the tips and advice from you all.
Thanks again - I will now go away and digest everything but will keep my eyes on this thread.
