Midland Counties Dairy

Hello peoples,

Please stop confusing me, I ain't myself today ! don't know who I am but it's no improvement.

I thought Midland Counties Dairy was in Corporation St. Aston { Gosta green } ??????

There was a sort of garden come island outside and I learned to roller skate there.

You could see into the building and watch the bottles going round.

I don't remember anything about ice cream only the milk.

Betty.
Yes. You are correct. Address was Baggot Street. Corner of Baggot Street and corporation. Yes there was a triangular grassy island out front.....

I sought out this thread, because I had vivid memories of the Midland Counties dairy on Corporation Street. I recall that passing it on the bus out of town was always a landmark event, but I couldn't remember why. Surprisingly, this newspaper photograph is the only image of the dairy in this entire thread, but I can now see that the building had an impact from its notable size and shape. I further recall that it occupied an entire island between roads including Corporation Street and Bagot Street. Across the road to one side I recall a wedge of land incorporating a small development of early council houses around a yard dating from around 1900. I remember the demolition of the dairy in favour of the Aston Expressway around 1971 leaving those council houses marooned until their turn for demolition came.
