I was one of the lucky ones lyn. :grinning:

Villa gave their Season Ticket holders an opportunity to purchase tickets online on Thursday morning and although there were no seats anywhere near the stage, that my wife and I could have used, I was able to buy 2 standing tickets for my son (who is unlike us, able to stand for hours at a time ;)).

It is nice to know that some locals, will be able to be in attendance and well done to the club, for not leaving every ticket with Ticketmaster, to sell to bots, touts and those fans who had somehow won the queue lottery race.

totally agree john...your son is very lucky to be able to see what is a very special concert...make sure he keeps the tickets thats if you get paper ones these days oh to take lots of photos :)

Sadly, this is so predictable. I guess it's simply a case of supply and demand. Hotels are more expensive when something is happening in the city, because the demand for rooms is higher than normal. Hotels around Wembley are exactly the same on Cup Final/Semi Final dates, with prices much higher on the day and the night before, than they are on other days in the surrounding days. The opposite is the case when nothing much is happening, hotel rooms can then often be booked at a lower rate than usual. Booking family holidays is another example. I remember how prices were significantly higher during school holidays, than they were outside them and I'm sure that will still be the case.

None of us like it, but that is the way things have been for a few years now. That said, I think that some of the prices being charged are way over the top and it does the hotel groups and the city itself no favours, if visitors are paying well in excess of double the normal price for a hotel room.

Just done a quick check of hotel rooms for 2 for the Saturday night of the concert, some seem extortionate* and the ones by the airport are stinging those that may be travelling from abroad:

Park Inn (Bescot) £494*, Novotel (NEC) £369, Ibis (NEC) £338, Travelodge (Yardley) £330*, Travelodge (NEC) £327*, The Belfry £306, Britannia Hotel £304*, Travelodge (Maypole) £275* & Moor Hall Hotel £220.
 
I run a maintenance team for a group of hotels in Blackpool
bank holidays etc they put the tariff up slightly
the big boys as to be found in every Town/City
are now in Blackpool with high tariffs Breakfast/Parking are extra
take a walk down Albert Rd B&B knock a door £30/40 and best breakfast ever
 
Those are ridiculous prices, especially for the more downmarket hotels, but its the market. I have been told, and on occasions this seems to be correct, that if you are searching online and go back to a hotel that you have already visited, then the price quoted goes up.
