It seems that £1.50 was an unrealistically low price so they are trying to make up for it! Shame on them,,
once the new price £16. starts it would be interesting to know just how many has been ordered in the first 6 months and compere that to how many was ordered at £1.50 for the previous 6 months...wonder if they would make a profit..break even or make a loss..my opinion is they should not have been greedy..putting the price up to £5 could have been a better choice and more affordable for most people

At least they kept the rise to the current inflation rate....not

It looks to me like they are going through everything with a fine-tooth comb, in an attempt to find some way to get some more money into the government's coffers and they couldn't wait until the budget to announce this one. I think this was seen as an easy target, in comparison to the winter fuel allowance and triple lock, what next though? I always used to get a couple of copies, in case the original got lost in the post, they have made taking out that insurance, a more costly business for the bereaved.

agree with you john...also obtaining probate/wills when doing family research could be very useful to us and many people bought them just out of pure curiosity but now i fear curiosity will go out of the window and they will only be bought out of real necessity.
