Warm arms that held me crushingly tight
Tanned with fine gold hairs
Your touch was always warm
Hands so strong and solid
Beautiful blue eyes passed to your sons
I see you in them often
And in their children
A laugh, a grimace, a smile
You were so good for me
You were my strength
My friend, my lover, husband
Almost part of me
We shared our music along with our lives
The heartbreak, anger and laughter
We’d row then grin then laugh out loud
We really loved, didn’t we
I can look at the photos now
I have them framed with pride of place
Our wedding, your sonsie, lanky looks
Your coy smile
Saturday nights to the pub with the boys
Clapping your hands, shouting, “Yule!”
And off you’d go happy, joking with your sons
We were a happy family
I still miss you now and always will
No-one else will ever do
If I can’t have you I want no-one
Martin, I still love you
