Hello,

I've traced some of my ancestors back to one of the parish transcriptions on the IGI, and would be grateful if anybody could see if there is any more information available.

The details available on the IGI are as follows:

John Billington
Mary Ann Bashford

Many thanks.

Thanks for all those replies, and for looking that up Shera. It is greatly appreciated and has given me things to consider.

For information, the Billington family that I have traced back to the 1841 census is as follows:

Registration District: King's Norton
Civil Parish: Harborne
John 25 (43 on 1851 census)
Mary 25 (42 on 1851 census)
Obedience 10 (name not originally recorded correctly) (18 on 1851 census)
Richard 5
Emanuel 4
William 8 months

I have the birth certificate for Emmanuel, and his mother's name is Mary Ann Bashford. The birth is also registered by a Sarah Bashford. Sarah lived on Beech Lane in Harborne, and I am sort of thinking that Sarah is Mary's mother.

Obedience is born around 1833, which is one year after the marriage.

I also have information that Richard Bashford, of Beech Lane died in 1843, and I suspect that this is Sarah's Husband. So the marriage for Richard Bashford and Sarah Hampson is also a good possibility for Mary's parents.

The name Emmanuel (various spellings) Bashford also occurs on the IGI at St. Martins. And I suspect there may be a connection, because Emmanuel seems quite unusual. Emmanuel Bashford could be William and Mary Ann's brother.

Thanks again for your help. I'll have to have a think about all this.
